Creating Repositories

To create a new repository in Nexus Repository, you require the following privileges:

  • nx-repository-admin-*-*-add

    To add a new repository

  • nx-repository-admin-*-*-read

    To view repositories (including the newly added ones)

To create a new repository, take the following steps:

Nexus One UI

  1. Navigate to Settings → Repositories.

  2. Select Create Repository.

  3. In the Select Format section, select the repository format that you want to create.

  4. In the Select Type section, select an available repository type.

    • Proxy for accessing and caching content from an upstream repository.

    • Hosted for storing content that you publish to Nexus Repository.

    • Group for providing access to multiple repositories through a single repository URL.

    Available repository types depend on the selected format. See Formats for the supported repository types for each format.

  5. Complete the required fields for the selected repository format and type. Common configuration fields include:

    • Name identifies the repository and must be unique.

    • Remote storage specifies the upstream repository for proxy repositories.

    • Blob Store specifies where repository content is stored.

    • Member Repositories specifies the repositories included in a group repository.

    The fields displayed in the form depend on the selected repository format and type. Some formats require additional configuration. See the documentation for your repository format for its specific requirements.

  6. Complete any additional configuration that you want to apply to the repository. See Configurable Repository Fields for details about the available repository settings.

  7. Complete any additional setup screens that appear for the selected repository format and type.

    • If Continue appears, select it to proceed to the next configuration step.

    • If the Enable Firewall section appears, configure Repository Firewall for the repository or select Skip to leave it disabled.

    • If the Enable RHC section appears, turn on Enable Repository Health Check to analyze components for security vulnerabilities and license issues, or leave it disabled to configure it later.

  8. Select Create Repository.

Classic UI

  1. Navigate to Settings → Repository → Repositories.

  2. Select Create repository.

  3. From the list of recipes, select the format and repository type that you want to create.

    Available recipes depend on the repository types supported by the format. See Formats for the supported repository types for each format.

  4. In the form that appears, complete the required fields and any additional configuration that you want to apply to the repository. Available configurations differ by repository format and type.

  5. Select Create repository.

Deleting Repositories

Select the Delete repository button to delete an existing repository. This deletes the repository, the related configuration, and components from the repository.
