Override Policy Actions

NEW IN RELEASE 140

The policy action override feature allows Nexus Lifecycle users with "Edit IQ elements" permission, to override policy actions for inherited policies. This does not affect the policy actions defined at the parent level.

Only policies that are specifically configured for override at the parent level (org or application) allow the Actions to be overridden at the child levels (inherited orgs or applications.)

To allow policy actions to be overridden at the child org or applications levels:

  1. Click on the Orgs and Policies in the leftmost navigation bar, and select the policy at the parent level where it is first defined.
  2. Click on the policy to go to the Edit Policy page.
  3. Check the “Allow action to be overridden by children” checkbox under the Policy Actions Override section and click Save. Policy actions can now be overridden when they are inherited at the child levels.

To configure policy actions for override at the child levels:

  1. Click on the Orgs and Policies in the leftmost navigation bar, to select the inherited policy for the child org or application that you want to override.
  2. Click on the policy to go to the Edit Policy pageThe Actions section shows the policy's current override status (by default this is set to Inherit parent actions.)
  3. The Actions section shows exactly similar policy actions as they were set at its preceding parent level.
  4. Under Override Status, select the Override parent actions option.
  5. Select the policy actions as required at this child level and click Update to save changes.

  6. To revert to the policy actions defined at the parent level, select Inherit parent actions. This will delete all overrides created for this policy and revert to the actions defined at the parent level.
  7. Click Update to save changes.
